Install a security update
Learn to install a security update, in 6 short steps.
Step by step
- Open "Settings" (the gear).
- Scroll down and tap "System".
- Tap "System update".
- Tap "Check for update" and wait a moment.
- A security update is waiting: it protects your phone. Tap "Download and install".
- Tap "Restart now". The screen goes black for a moment: that is normal. Wait until it comes back.
These steps are written for SafePhone, a pretend Android-style smartphone in your web browser. On your own smartphone, the buttons and menus may look a little different, but the idea is the same.
