SafePC · The mouse and the desktop

The middle-click

The scroll wheel can be clicked too: on the taskbar, it opens a new window.

3 steps · about 2 minutes · practice it with SafePC Pro

Step by step

  1. Click the yellow folder with the SCROLL WHEEL. At the bottom of the practice computer, on the taskbar, find the yellow folder icon (File Explorer). Put the mouse on it and press the scroll wheel (the little wheel between the two mouse buttons) like a button, without turning it. A File Explorer window opens.
  2. Do it again: a 2nd window opens. Click the same yellow folder icon with the scroll wheel once more (on the taskbar, at the bottom of the practice computer): a second File Explorer window opens, so you now have two.
  3. Close all the windows at once. RIGHT-click the yellow folder icon on the taskbar (press the right mouse button), then choose "Close all windows" in the small menu that opens above it. Both File Explorer windows close.

These steps are written for SafePC, a pretend Windows-style computer in your web browser. On your own computer, the buttons and menus may look a little different, but the idea is the same.

Practice it where nothing can break

SafePC works like a real computer, but nothing you do goes anywhere. Try every button, make mistakes and start again.
