SafePC · The mouse and the desktop

Discover the right-click

The right mouse button opens a menu of options: the "context menu".

2 steps · about 1 minute · practice it with SafePC Pro

Step by step

  1. Right-click the desktop background. Put the mouse on an EMPTY area of the desktop (on the background picture, away from every icon and window) and press the RIGHT mouse button, then let go. A small menu opens right where you clicked.
  2. Click "Refresh". In the small menu, click "Refresh" (the third line, with a circular arrow) with the normal (left) mouse button. Nothing seems to change on screen: that is normal, Refresh just redraws the desktop.

These steps are written for SafePC, a pretend Windows-style computer in your web browser. On your own computer, the buttons and menus may look a little different, but the idea is the same.

Practice it where nothing can break

SafePC works like a real computer, but nothing you do goes anywhere. Try every button, make mistakes and start again.
