Share a big video with a link

Step by step

1. Click the Start button! Look at the bottom of this practice computer: the dark strip there is its taskbar. In the middle of it, click the Start button (four blue squares). The main menu opens just above it. If you see two taskbars, use the one inside this page.
2. Click "Browser". In the menu that opened, click the "Browser" tile (a square with a small picture and its name under it): the app opens in its own window.
3. Go to drive.practice.example. Type "drive.practice.example" in the address bar then Enter: your online storage opens.
4. Click "＋ New". At the top left, click "＋ New".
5. Click "File upload". In the menu, click "⬆️ File upload": a window opens to pick a file on this computer.
6. Choose "birthday-video.mp4". In the window, click "Videos" on the left, click the file "birthday-video.mp4", then click "Open".
7. Click the ⋮ button of the video. On the line "birthday-video.mp4", click the three dots ⋮ at the far right: a menu opens.
8. Click "Share". In the menu, click "👤 Share": a window opens to decide who can open the file.
9. Allow anyone with the link. Under "General access", it says "Restricted": only people you invite could open the video. Click "Change" so that it says "Anyone with the link": Emily will then be able to open it.
10. Click "Copy link". Click the "🔗 Copy link" button at the bottom left of the window: the link of the video is copied, as if on a clipboard, ready to be pasted.
11. Click "Done". Click the blue "Done" button to close the window.
12. Open "Practice Mail". On the favorites bar, click "Practice Mail": it is your email inbox.
13. Click "Compose". At the top left of your mailbox, click the "✏️ Compose" button: a window opens to write a new email.
14. Enter the recipient. In the "To" box, type Emily's address: [email protected]
15. Write a subject. Click in the "Subject" box and type "Birthday video"
16. Paste the link: Ctrl + V. Click in the big white area, then hold the Ctrl key and press V: the link of the video appears in your message.
17. Click "Send". Click the blue "Send" button: Emily gets an email with a link instead of a heavy file, and she can watch the video from it.
18. Close this window. You are done with this window, so close it: click the ✕ button at the top right corner of the "Browser" window (on its title bar, the strip at the top). The window disappears.

These steps are written for SafePC, a pretend Windows-style computer in your web browser. On your own computer, the buttons and menus may look a little different, but the idea is the same.
