Search for a picture and save it

Use the search engine's "Images" tab and download a photo.

7 steps · about 3 minutes · practice it with SafePC Pro

Step by step

  1. Click the Start button! Look at the bottom of this practice computer: the dark strip there is its taskbar. In the middle of it, click the Start button (four blue squares). The main menu opens just above it. If you see two taskbars, use the one inside this page.
  2. Click "Browser". In the menu that opened, click the "Browser" tile (a square with a small picture and its name under it): the app opens in its own window.
  3. Search for "cat". The address bar at the top of the Browser also works as a search box. Click in it, type "cat", then press Enter: a page of search results opens.
  4. Click the "Images" tab. The results are text links for now. To see only pictures, click "Images" in the row of words just under the search box (All, Images, Videos…).
  5. Pick a picture. Click once on a picture you like: a bigger view of it opens on the right of the page.
  6. Click "Download". In the bigger view on the right, click the blue "⬇ Download" button. The picture is saved on the computer, in the Downloads folder (File Explorer › Downloads).
  7. Close this window. You are done with this window, so close it: click the ✕ button at the top right corner of the "Browser" window (on its title bar, the strip at the top). The window disappears.

These steps are written for SafePC, a pretend Windows-style computer in your web browser. On your own computer, the buttons and menus may look a little different, but the idea is the same.

Practice it where nothing can break

SafePC works like a real computer, but nothing you do goes anywhere. Try every button, make mistakes and start again.
