Make a slideshow (Practice Slides)
Create a presentation online, add a slide and present it full screen.
Step by step
- Click the Start button! Look at the bottom of this practice computer: the dark strip there is its taskbar. In the middle of it, click the Start button (four blue squares). The main menu opens just above it. If you see two taskbars, use the one inside this page.
- Click "Browser". In the menu that opened, click the "Browser" tile (a square with a small picture and its name under it): the app opens in its own window.
- Go to slides.practice.example. Type "slides.practice.example" in the address bar then Enter: you land on Practice Slides.
- Create a "Blank presentation". A slideshow is a series of pages (slides) that you show one after the other, for example to share holiday photos. Click the big white card "+ Blank presentation": a new slideshow opens in a new tab.
- Write the title. The first slide is in the middle of the screen. Click on the gray words "Click to add title" and type the title of your slideshow, for example "My vacation".
- Add a slide. Add a second page: click the "+" button at the very left of the toolbar (the row of small buttons above the slide). The new slide appears in the column on the left, under the first one.
- Start the slideshow. Now show it the way you would to other people: at the top right, click "▶ Slideshow". The slides fill the whole screen. Go to the next slide with the → arrow key or a click.
- Exit the slideshow. Press the Esc key at the top left of the keyboard.
- Close this window. You are done with this window, so close it: click the ✕ button at the top right corner of the "Browser" window (on its title bar, the strip at the top). The window disappears.
These steps are written for SafePC, a pretend Windows-style computer in your web browser. On your own computer, the buttons and menus may look a little different, but the idea is the same.
Practice it where nothing can break
SafePC works like a real computer, but nothing you do goes anywhere. Try every button, make mistakes and start again.
