Connect to a Wi-Fi network
Pick a network, type its security key and connect.
Step by step
- Click the Wi-Fi / sound icons, at the bottom right. At the very bottom right of the screen, just left of the date and time, there are two small icons: the Wi-Fi waves and a speaker. Click on them (they work as one button): a panel called "Quick settings" opens above them.
- Click the Wi-Fi › arrow. In the Quick settings panel, the first tile (the Wi-Fi waves, with the name of your network under it) is split in two. Click the small › arrow at its right end, not the waves: the list of available networks appears.
- Choose "HomeNetwork-5G". In the list of networks, click "HomeNetwork-5G" (the second line). Some more buttons appear under its name.
- Click "Connect". Click the blue "Connect" button under the name of the network (leave the small "Connect automatically" box as it is). A box then asks for the network security key.
- Type the security key. The new box asks for the Wi-Fi password. Click in it and type a password. For this exercise, any password of at least 8 characters works, for example "home2026". Dots show instead of letters: that is normal, they hide your password.
- Click "Next". Click the blue "Next" button under the password box: the computer connects to the network.
These steps are written for SafePC, a pretend Windows-style computer in your web browser. On your own computer, the buttons and menus may look a little different, but the idea is the same.
Practice it where nothing can break
SafePC works like a real computer, but nothing you do goes anywhere. Try every button, make mistakes and start again.
