SafePC · Calculate and draw

Do a calculation

Work out 7 + 8 with the Calculator.

6 steps · about 2 minutes · practice it with SafePC Pro

Step by step

  1. Click the Start button! Look at the bottom of this practice computer: the dark strip there is its taskbar. In the middle of it, click the Start button (four blue squares). The main menu opens just above it. If you see two taskbars, use the one inside this page.
  2. Click "Calculator". In the menu that opened, click the "Calculator" tile (a square with a small picture and its name under it): the app opens in its own window.
  3. Click the digit 7. In the Calculator window, click the 7 button (in the top row of digits: 7, 8, 9). A 7 shows at the top of the calculator.
  4. Click the + sign. In the Calculator window, click the + button (in the right-hand column of buttons, just above the = button). The calculator now waits for the second number.
  5. Click the digit 8. In the Calculator window, click the 8 button (in the top row of digits, between 7 and 9). The 8 shows at the top.
  6. Click the = sign. In the Calculator window, click the blue = button (at the bottom right of the calculator). The answer, 15, shows at the top.

These steps are written for SafePC, a pretend Windows-style computer in your web browser. On your own computer, the buttons and menus may look a little different, but the idea is the same.

Practice it where nothing can break

SafePC works like a real computer, but nothing you do goes anywhere. Try every button, make mistakes and start again.
