Create a folder on the desktop

Right-click › New › Folder: a folder appears on the desktop.

3 steps · about 2 minutes · practice it with SafePC Pro

Step by step

  1. Right-click the desktop background. Put the mouse on an EMPTY area of the desktop (on the background picture, away from every icon and window) and press the RIGHT mouse button, then let go. A small menu opens right where you clicked.
  2. Hover over "New". In the small menu, put the mouse on the "New" line without clicking, and wait a moment: a second menu opens beside it.
  3. Click "Folder". In the second menu, the one that opened beside "New", click "Folder" (the first line): a folder named "New folder" appears on the desktop, among the other icons.

These steps are written for SafePC, a pretend Windows-style computer in your web browser. On your own computer, the buttons and menus may look a little different, but the idea is the same.

Practice it where nothing can break

SafePC works like a real computer, but nothing you do goes anywhere. Try every button, make mistakes and start again.
