Sign in and look around

Sign in to a practice social network with a password, look at your feed and your profile, then sign out.

9 steps · about 4 minutes · practice it with SafePC Pro

Step by step

  1. Click the Start button! Look at the bottom of this practice computer: the dark strip there is its taskbar. In the middle of it, click the Start button (four blue squares). The main menu opens just above it. If you see two taskbars, use the one inside this page.
  2. Click "Browser". In the menu that opened, click the "Browser" tile (a square with a small picture and its name under it): the app opens in its own window.
  3. Go to . Click in the address bar at the top, type and press Enter. It is a practice social network: made-up people, nothing is really shared.
  4. Type the password. Click in the "Password" box and type "" (it is also written on the page). The letters show as dots: that is normal.
  5. Click "Sign in". Click the purple "Sign in" button (or press Enter). If the password is wrong, a red message says so: type it again.
  6. Look at your feed. You are on the Home page: this is your feed, the news your family and friends shared, newest first. Click "My profile" at the top to see the page other people see about you.
  7. Go back to "Home". Click "Home" in the white bar to come back to the feed.
  8. Click "Sign out". At the top right of the page, click "Sign out". Always sign out of a social network when you use a shared computer.
  9. Close this window. You are done with this window, so close it: click the ✕ button at the top right corner of the "Browser" window (on its title bar, the strip at the top). The window disappears.

These steps are written for SafePC, a pretend Windows-style computer in your web browser. On your own computer, the buttons and menus may look a little different, but the idea is the same.

Practice it where nothing can break

SafePC works like a real computer, but nothing you do goes anywhere. Try every button, make mistakes and start again.
