Remove a USB drive safely
Eject the USB drive before pulling it out, so nothing is lost.
Step by step
- Click the USB drive icon. At the bottom right, next to the Wi-Fi and sound icons, click the small USB drive icon ("Safely remove hardware").
- Click "Eject ". Click "Eject ". When the computer says "Safe to remove hardware", you can pull the drive out.
These steps are written for SafePC, a pretend Windows-style computer in your web browser. On your own computer, the buttons and menus may look a little different, but the idea is the same.
