Join a video visit with your doctor
Allow the camera and microphone, talk with the doctor, mute yourself, end the visit.
Step by step
- Click the Start button! Look at the bottom of this practice computer: the dark strip there is its taskbar. In the middle of it, click the Start button (four blue squares). The main menu opens just above it. If you see two taskbars, use the one inside this page.
- Click "Browser". In the menu that opened, click the "Browser" tile (a square with a small picture and its name under it): the app opens in its own window.
- Go to healthbook.example. Click in the address bar at the top of the Browser, type healthbook.example and press Enter. It is the practice website of a doctor's office.
- Type the password. Click in the "Password" box and type the practice password: (it is also written on the page). The letters show as dots: that is normal.
- Click "Sign in". Click the "Sign in" button (or press Enter). If the password is wrong, a red message says so: type it again.
- Click "Join the video visit". You are already checked in: on the home page, click "Join the video visit".
- Allow the camera and microphone. The website asks to use your camera and microphone. The doctor needs them: click "Allow".
- Wait for the doctor. You are in the waiting room. Wait a few seconds: the doctor joins, and what she says is written in the black box.
- Mute your microphone. Click "Mute": the doctor can no longer hear you (useful if there is noise at home).
- Unmute. Click "Unmute" so the doctor can hear you again.
- End the visit. Click the red "End the visit" button.
- Close this window. You are done with this window, so close it: click the ✕ button at the top right corner of the "Browser" window (on its title bar, the strip at the top). The window disappears.
These steps are written for SafePC, a pretend Windows-style computer in your web browser. On your own computer, the buttons and menus may look a little different, but the idea is the same.
Practice it where nothing can break
SafePC works like a real computer, but nothing you do goes anywhere. Try every button, make mistakes and start again.
